Hungary leads the Council of Europe – here are the plans

The Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which Hungary officially took over for six months on Friday, comes with “serious responsibility” and also “a special opportunity”, Justice Minister Judit Varga said.

She said in an English-language Facebook post that the responsibilities that came with the presidency, which include coordinating the standpoints of 47 member states and consulting continuously with their representatives, were not easy tasks.

The priorities of the Hungarian CoE Presidency include the

protection of minority rights and maintaining a dialogue on human rights, democracy and the rule of law,

Varga said. “Our principle is to respect the cultural, legal and historical traditions of nations and to represent the interests of future generations,” she said.

The main topics the Hungarian presidency will focus on among future challenges include

the digitalisation of the judicial system and the application of artificial intelligence in justice administration,

Varga said. A conference of justice ministers focusing on these issues will be hosted by Budapest in the autumn, she added.

She noted that Hungary’s parliament on Tuesday adopted a political declaration reaffirming the national assembly’s commitment to the work of the CoE, which functions as a framework of cooperation among free, independent and democratic European states.

“Hungary has been, for a long time, a devoted participant and shaper in the development of law in Europe, a fact that will be proved in the following months again,” the justice minister said.

  1. For the the CoE (Council of Europe, not to be confused with CoE, Church of England), having Hungary holding the presidency will be like employing someone who only reads and writes Chinese to proofread and amend something written in Welsh.

  2. Yet again, the “Anonymous” anemone has shown himself to be nothing but a totally ignorant buffoon.

Just because Comrade Commissar Karácsony cannot utter even the simplest sentence in English does not mean that there are no highly-qualified experts in English – AND MANY OTHER LANGUAGES – within the Hungarian Government.

  3. My example was not about language, but the fact that the Hungarian government is the opposite of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. It is a government run by thugs for the benefit of thugs, a get rich quick on EU money with total disregard for the core values of the EU.

  4. The present Hungarian Government – led by FIDESZ – was democratically-elected a few years ago by the majority of voters in Hungary and (contrary to beliefs held by certain left-wing fools) not only respects ‘human rights’ but also adheres to the ‘rule of law’.

There is NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that FIDESZ will – yet again – have a majority in the Hungarian Parliament following general elections to be held in 2022.

Unfortunately, there are some misguided individuals who believe that Hungary – as an independent, sovereign nation – must adhere to absolutely insane beliefs emanating from Brussels (which STINK like huge farts permeating all of Europe) concerning the so-called ‘rights’ of ILLEGAL MUSLIM MIGRANTS and SEXUAL DEVIANTS.

The European Commission / Parliament do NOT appear to have any ‘core values’ apart from imposing such ridiculous ‘rulings’ onto the rest of Europe – like a reincarnated “Presidium of the Supreme Soviet”.

  5. Yes Anonymous, you are correct. Don’t worry about Alfred, he’s just spouting off again.

  6. In six months time, Hungary will have demonstrated to the Council of Europe (indeed, the entire European Union) how things can be done ‘properly’ in the role of “PRESIDENCY OF THE COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE” (unlike the ‘haphazard’ fashion in which the European Commission / Parliament act).

On the other hand, in late November, “Mario” will still be throwing around his childish ‘one-liners’ and lecturing Hungarians how to think / vote / view the destructive actions of Brussels and its Soviet-inspired leadership / bureaucracy.

  7. MBT – the only thing that Hungary will demonstrate by virtue of its government is that it is not fit to be a member of the EU, that it is an obstructive, uncooperative, EU funds sucking leech.

  8. TO “Uh Angry” :

If – in your meaningless opinion – Hungary is “not fit to be a member of the EU” because it refuses to accept ILLEGAL MUSLIM MIGRANTS or ‘recognise’ sexual deviancy, then so be it.

In the big schemes of things, you are less significant than ant faeces.

Hungary is a proud, independent, sovereign nation and will NOT be told what to do by neo-liberal Socialists / Communists in Brussels – or the likes of you.

Left-leaning invertebrates within Europe expect total unanimity from member nations in all issues concerning foreign policy, migration and taxation but the European Union – because of its various treaties – cannot force any countries to ‘kowtow’ before such insanity emanating from Brussels.

As you are so obviously ‘angry’ at this prospect, it can only be suggested that you obtain some temporary relief by playing with your little club inside a dark cave somewhere in Africa (and stay there).

  9. MBT – you fool no one. Bored with the Alfred moniker now are you? You haven’t used Dollittle for a while. Whatever name you use, your unique porcine-like personality shines through.

  10. A wonderful thing about Hungary is that there are LOTS of wild boars inhabiting its borders.

Such creatures are eagerly sought-after by local / international hunters but also serve another purpose.

For the uninitiated, such creatures – when starving – will readily devour not only ILLEGAL MUSLIM MIGRANTS but also “Anonymous” anemones and lost cavemen.

However, eating “Anonymous” anemones would possibly cause the poor animals to have indigestion.
